I got a speaker box out of a car that my dad ended up with (he has a towing service and boneyard. It has two 10" subwoofers in it. Can I hook them up with out using an amp? Curious. There is an amp over there but I have no clue what kind it is. Well after fighting the wire harness for 5 hours. I'm going to bed. Most of that 5 hours was searching for the right diagram.

im sure you could but it wouldnt be very loud....

a 400 watt amp should be a plenty to know that they are back there and wireing it up is gravy

first on the wire harness that goes into the cd player find the remote wire it should say remote...

tap into that wire and run it back to the amp and plug it into the remote wire for the amp

while you have the cd player out of the dash plug in your rca jacks and run them and plug them into the amp

next run the power wire to the battery and a ground to a good ground on the jeep then just hook up your speakers and try it out

oh and if you want an on/off switch to turn the subs off but keep the cd player on just tie in a toggle on the remote wire

Thanks. Is there a way to tell how big the amp is? There is two over there. One has two gauges on it the other is plain. At least its better to have them then to go buy one. But it it won't work then I will just wait and save up for an amp. I want one that looks stylish if I deside to go with one. I really like the Sony Xplod amps. Of course Ebay is my favorite site.

Ok I was aple to get into the trunk and found a big ol' box with 2 12" subs. It says 450w on the box. Then I found a Sony Xplod 500 watt amp. So I'm going to use this box and amp. I'm going to temp run the wires under the seat to the front since no one rides in the vehicle with me that much. Then when I get a warm day I will take the trim panels and run it that way. Good thing I bought a 100' of 12 gauge wire. I'm going to use that wire for power and when I run the remote wire. I'm going out now to put in the door speakers. I have to pull it out of the garage for that because of room. Then I will put in the rear hatch ones and then the big speakers.

I ran into this problem. I have to trip the dash panel that goes around the radio. It is just a tad bit too small to get the trim plate on the cd player. Front speakers are in with no problem. The rear speakers will be cake. I'll just remembered that I forgot to hook up the amp wires to run to the back. Guess I better get out there.
