1996 Grand Cherokee

My rear left wheel makes a thumping sound when hitting bumps. A very similar sound to that of bad ball joints.

When jacked up the wheel has some play, and makes the same sound when you wiggle it.

Bearing?Hub?Drivetrain?

Any help is certianly apreciated.

Josh

No balljoints in the rear but it could be your wheel bearings.. Jack it up and try to lift the tire with a tire tool.. IF it moves it is probobly the wheel bearing...

Have you cheecked the shocks. Also the sway bar and exhaust can hit if bent. YOu can usually see a shiny spot where the metal hits. It could be the mounting for the shocks. Al
