Every one of the aftermarket "cold air" intake systems I've looked at for my 2006 Wrangler only fit, according to their sales propaganda, Jeeps through 2004. AEM, Airaid, and others show nothing for '05 and '06. Were there changes made under the hood after 2004 that would alter the way these things fit? Or is it a case of the various manufacturers just not updating their application charts?

Thanks

This is most likely the reason. I'm not aware of any significant changes.

Before you plunk down $250 of hard earned cash, the majority opinion here is those things aren't worth the box they're packaged in. Save your money for something else.

Yeah, I'm aware of that opinion, but it doesn't happen to be MY opinion. Mr. Green

This isn't the first vehicle I ever owned, nor is it the first one I ever improved performance on by opening up restrictive intake and exhaust systems. In fact, it's not even the first Jeep I've done it to. True, the smaller Jeep engines don't net as much horsepower or torque gains as V-8 engines do, but as far as I'm concerned, ANY increase is worth the money.

The thing is, the 4.0's intake and exhaust systems are not restrictive at all. The intake "tube" allows for more flow than the engine can even take in. And as far as "any gain is worth the money", you won't get any gain, so is it still worth the money?

Finely someone else shares the same opinion as I do.
And for the record, I recently took my ‘02 to the drag strip just for the fun and to see if removing the stock air cleaner box helped or not.
I re-installed the stock unit and laid down 3 blistering runs and the best was 18.162sec at 73.656.
With the open K~N back on I did 3 more runs at under 17 sec. and the best was a 17.592 at 75.231 beating a friends full size Dodge Quad cab, He was PISSED!
So, you see they really do work.

No doubt they do work, but dollar for dollar, most don't seem the gains justify the cost. That's just the point us anti-aftermarket folk generally preach. For the record, I have an open air/hacked OEM tube setup that I've never gotten around to restoring back to stock.....someday.

"My money" being the operative phrase. The cost of a few bolt-on "performance" parts (intake, exhaust, programmer) rings up at less than $1000. Hardly a significant amount of money.

All I wanted to know is whether or not there were changes made under the hood for the 2005 or 2006 models.

Exactly, I've done things to my Jeep that weren't highly recommended too. Just don't take offense that not everyone is gonna be marching along with the drummer Wink .

Wanna pass a couple hundred my way if $1000 is hardly a significant amount of money???
