So I came across this article and can't decide whether it is just some dooms day alarmists or really true. What do you folks think?

If you've got a few days, try googling "peak oil." A lot of the info out there seems to be a lot of doom and gloom and scare tactics. Do they know any better than anybody else? Who knows. Here's an interesting report from the USGS and DOE on the subject. Personally, I don't think we'll ever run out - the cost of extracting/refining oil will end up so ridiculously high, that it won't be worth it any longer and we'll all be riding bicycles. Wink

In the short term, here's something to think about: The cost of a barrel of oil went up 60% prior to Operation Enduring Freedom. As things go sideways in Iran/Nigeria/Venezuela, imagine a similar increase. I don't want to think about the cost of a gallon of gas if/when oil hits $95 a barrel.

Don't worry Code...with a lift and some decent wheelin' tires, you'll be good to go! Of course, you'll be on your own for mounting the winch. Confused

I already ride a bike. Of course I use it to fly through the forest and drop off of loading docks at school. I guess I will have to use it to actually go places instead of using it as an excuse to go out and get lost.

Actually, here you go:

All wheel drive and fully loaded for $3100. And you don't have to have insurance to ride it. (Although, from personal experience, I would recomend life insurance Wink ).

I spent 1500 on my bike plus another 500-800 a new fork, pedals, and tires.

I like it. Here is a pic of me when my buddy and I went to snowshoe to run some downhill.

The pic isn't that great because I had to resize it. But this is a perfect example of why I don't ride wal-mart bikes. That is about 6 feet off the forest floor. I lost my balance and fell off of one later that day. I was fine but I did bend that fork a little, thats why I got a new one, and its so much better.

Yeah, I even ride around to my classes with it. Of course I live with my family right outside of harrisonburg so its not like I am leaving it outside any dorms. Trust me, there are some nice things about living ar home, free food, no rent, no one bothers me. I don't think I would have made it living with a roommate on campus. I probably would have ended up killing them Twisted Evil
