Hi guys...
I'm in deep shit now...have no idea where to go next...

A couple of weeks ago I started my ZJ -98 5.2Ltr V8 and let it stand idling for a few minutes since it was pretty cold outside and I had a millimeter-thick layer of ice on the window...
All of a sudden the engine just died...

I tried to start it again, engine turned but didn't start...I guessed I've just got my first 'ice-plug' in the gas-line...
Some days later I got help to push the car down to my under-ground garage...

Now the spooky starts...
I looked at various sites and found two possible causes for my problems...fuel delivery...or crank shaft positioning sensor...
Should mention that it's a high-miler...300.000Km...~200.000miles...

Checked for fuel-pressure and sparks on the plugs...plugs seemed OK...fuel a little bit dubious...
Sparks outruled the CPS as the cause of failure...
Now I decided to go with Swampy's by-pass tip since my tank was filled to the neck...

I cut the trunk open and removed the fuel-pump assy...replaced the fuel-pump, filters and put everything back together...couldn't wait to fire her up again...

But...nothing happens...*bloody shit*...
It still doesn't start...fuel delivery is OK...sparks looks good...engine turns nicely...
Checked wiring between coil and distributor...checked rotor etc...everything seems fine...
I even tried start-gas but it doesn't fire up!!!

What's left to do????

Broken chain?
How can I check that without tearing half the engine apart?
Check compression?

Any other ideas on where the cause could lie??
Last resort is to call for help to drag her over to a pro-mechanic...I'm running out of patience and ideas now...

I'm no expert, but to check if the timing chain is broken, surely it's enough to pull of a rocker cover and see if the rockers move while cranking? If the oil filler is on a rocker cover you might even be able to see the action through there.

Thanks for the tip Kari...
Checked the oil-filler cap...it's protected by a shield inside...no view through there...

I'll go for the compression-test to verify if the camshaft is moving or not...
