what would you all reccomend for exhaust? im looking for preformance over sound, but if i can get both that'd be nice. is a full exhaust neccisicary? does it give any more power than just a muffler?
and for intake, ive heard that it's no good if you go muddin' alot, is that true? can the intake get damaged from lots of mud in the engine?

thanks in advance

For the intake im just running the k&n drop in filter i noticed a slight increase power...nothing major gas mileage went up as well...i know a bunch of people knock them but everyone has their own opinion

as for a muffler i have the dynomax super turbo i noticed a decent increase there...but i hear flowmaster is the best for a cherokee 40 series sounds really good

hope that helps

Are you talking about an open element filter? Something like this?

If so, then yes, you don't want to soak it or get it wet. And, if you mean getting mud inside your intake, that's not a good thing. Not at all.

ive got a single flowmaster and the sound isnt very loud...at all, but it still sounds better than stock, i also have the rustys airtube and throttle body spacer with the k&n airfilter, and its one of the best mods i have done.

My Brother and I both have the Dynomax Super Turbo and I'm running Rusty's intake system. I notest a difference in throttle responce and torch. I have recently added a bored throttle body and ignition system to top it off. We absolutly love the muffler. It has a smooth quiet sound to it at lower rpms and has a really nice sound to it at full throttle. In my oppinion, it is half the price of anything else and just as good or better than the others.

i just got mine done recently. i took it up to a local shop, not because i couldnt install it myself, but becuase it's a huge pain in the ass and i dont regret it one bit! mine's a v-force (flowmaster knock off), and it definetly kicks ass. i ordered a k&n intake just a few minutes ago, the combination should kick more ass, but as of right now im pretty happy.

Hey guys, while it ran for a minute it hauled potatoes...lol Just had a high-flow cat and 40 series flow thrown on my '91 xj, along with the TB spacer and the K&N larger filter and intake tube I'd say it feels like I picked up maybe 20 horse, but the mid-range kicks you in the pants where it's most useful. Verdict still out on mileage, but was gettin around 18/23 with a manual so as long as it ain't worse i'm a happy camper. Now if I can only figure out why it won't run after the exhaust install......? Sad
