My ignition switch wont go back to the lock position. The engine turns off, but the key stops before it gets to lock. Any advice?

Also kind of off subject how do I get a picture in with my signature?

Mine does the same thing. Get some powdered graphite and put in it. I do this about every 6 months or so, and it works for me.

Powdered Graphite, never heard of it. Where would I find some and generally how much does it run?

My 92 XJ does same thing. Ignition Switch hangs and won't lock. I just wiggle shifter so it is firmly seated in PARK and then it will Lock steering column and key can be removed.

I guess I should look into it BUT I have been too busy with other mods and it just hasn't seemed to be too important yet!

Pic in Signature: Place a link to your desired picture link in Signature. I think I found instructions in the Test Picture Forum.

Mine does that too & I'm gonna put some graphite lock lube in all the locks. One thing. .. do NOT squirt WD-40 or other oil into the keyslot. It will work great for a week or so, but then the mechanism will become so slipery that the ignition won't stay in the "start" position. My brother did that once and his vehicle would shut off after hitting potholes, etc. He had to clamp visegrips to the upper ear of the switch so that weight and gravity would hold it forward until he got a new switch.
