You could get one of these and then get a winch cradle. If you have a rear hitch you can run wire out there too and get a front/back option for getting unstuck.

If you just wat to fab it just to do it my hat off to you.

If you do decide to go with the reciever hitch/winch cradle, be careful buying the hidden hitch type models. I was in a minor slow speed wreck last month (my fault) when I had the winch on the front of my 98 ZJ. There was no damage to either actual vehicle but all of the controls on my Ramsey are totally destroyed as well as the total loss of the cradle. I generally carried my winch in the back of the jeep but I was moving a desk so I installed it in the front. It stuck out probably 20" from the front of the truck but I could not see it at all from the drivers seat. I did not get a ticket, but my deductible is $1500 so my insurance company isn't going to help me get a new winch either. Also, try not to purchase one based soley on pictures as I did- these things are alot bigger in person and the size, weight, and leverage really killed the approach angle (I scrubbed on asphalt driveways) and made the front suspension sag a little less than an inch. Also, if you go with my recommendation of only installing it when you are taking your vehicle off road it is an absolute bitch to move around- it's heavy, awkward, and difficult to align the reciever to the hitch mount.

I made my own front bumper but I didnt make a plan.. Sorry..

I just worked out a bucket for the winch and made some mounts based on the tow hook brakets (only longer..) and then built a bumper around that...
