Hi guys,

I am looking at replacing the rear drums in my 96 xj with disk brakes. I have seen some directions on this site where you can swipe the rear brakes off of a zj and bolt them in on the xj because they share the same corporate 8.25 rear end. This is what I would like to do with my jeep but I don't want to fool around with trying to get a good set from a junkyard. I have had really bad luck with the junkyard parts I have gotten so far. I want to get new parts.

So here is my question. Where do I find good brake parts for a ~96 zj? Are the brands in auto zone, oreilly, etc any good? I don't recognize the brand names. I have heard good things about bendix. Anybody know where I can order a set?

BTW. I am gonna need calipers, rotors and bracket.

Thanks,

The calipers, pads and rotors can be bought from an autoparts store, but I think you'll have to get the ZJ backing plate from a junkyard. The plate will also require a little modification because the mounting holes won't line up.

Check the writeups section stickied under this forum. One of the links will take you to a pretty good writeup on the conversion.
