Not many posts as of late so I hope you do not think of me as someone that just likes to post. I only hope to help someone as new to Jeeps as I, so here goes.
This afternoon I installed an XD 9000i Warn winch on the stock bumper of a 2006 unlimited. I used a Warn #37170 mounting plate, a #37171 grille guard and I also purchased a #13917 winch soft cover.

The following are some things that I learned in the process:

1. Have metric and american standard tools at the ready.
2. When putting the winch on the mounting plate in the sub assembly mode, be sure you have it turned the right way for front and back.
3. Run cable thru the fairlead roller before you mount the winch to the mounting plate.
4. When you install the mounting plate with the winch attached, the instructions will tell you that you need 2 or three washers to use as spacers over the front sway bar holding bracket. I found out that 2 or 3 were not enough, mine took 5. I would recommend that you put spacers in until the holes line up and the Winch is sitting comfortably away from the grille. I found out with 3 washers I tightened it down and the winch was rubbing on the grille. Now, with five it looks and works great.
5. Last, I think it is a stretch to think that the #13917 soft winch cover will work. I can't get it to fit so I turned my wife loose on it and she did not come up with any solutions yet. Anyone got any advice on this?

double check the part number and make sure it's for your winch.
Sometimes you need to stretch it out before putting it on.

I did not install the soft cover or hard cover. They both block some of the air flow to the radiator.
This setup blocks some of the air to the radiator. You may see your temp raise some with this install if you live in a very hot climate area.

I wanted as much airflow to the radiator as possible, so have not installed either the soft or hard covers.

Navy I think I will agree with you. It will remain uncovered.
