someone is suggesting that I replace my wheel bearings while I am doing the pads and rotors - is there a need for new WB?

It could be just me, but I think you need a little more metal with your rust.

leave my rust outta this. They cover the roads here with salt and it just eats away at everything - you should see my driver side floor....or lack thereof.

THis is soon going to be a wheelin rig exclusively - once we get wifey a cheap car.

funny story....I told ya i'd have something happen....

Well. Everything went fine except that the caliper bolts - the ones that bolt the caliper to the caliper cage - are so long that when fully tightened, they are up against the back of the brake pad, causing the wheel to lock up.

The calipers were rebuilt units, and the the only thing I can think of is that they are off a different year Jeep, and as such have a slightly different build. At the moment, the caliper bolts are finger tight, and not touching the pads; obviously its not a good idea to drive like that, lest they should back out and disappear completely..

There was one minor mishap we'll say. Finally ready to take it for a test drive after 2 trips to the parts store and 4 hours (lots of rusty parts). Well we put the tires on and all and take it for a spin. I guess someone, who will remain nameless, got a little over zealous about the test drive and forgot to tighten the dirvers side pug nuts all the way. Use your imagination to think of what happened after a mile or so.....

Everyone is fine. I didn't happen to think to tell chris to grab my camera when he ran back to get his car. I was about .5mi away but main concern was getting the heep off he ground.

This may have been the nail in the coffin though - we are seriously looking at getting rid of her asap.

Everything is fixed as of today. I figured out the bolt problem and she's all set as of this afternoon. Took her for a test drive nad guess waht - the brakes worked and I didn't lose any tires.... Twisted Evil
