I got a new head unit for my 97 XJ, it somehow came with 2 160W 2 way Dual speakers, but I didnt spend Christmas with the Jeep so I don't know if they'll fit in it. Can someone tell me? Are they even worth putting in, my stocks don't sound so hot, these seem to be OK. thanks

It would help if you told us what size these free speakers were.

I do believe the sound bar takes 5.25" (unless you have a non-factory sound bar installed), and the dash takes 6x4 - but can be modified to take 5.25" as well.

I'm lookin into updating my right now as well - i've got the Boston Acoustic speakers picked out from Crutchfield.com - along with a Sony CDX-GT400 head unit. Can't wait till summer to see how the new system will sound with the hardtop off.

Well got them in. Little late on the response. They were a direct fit in the rear roof speakers. Sound better, and look nice. I still think I just like to hear the 4.0 while I drive though. Very Happy

I replaced all my speakers & head unit last weekend as well. I did all by myself - i was so proud (especially with the wiring of the head unit). I'm just so happy to be able to listen to MP3 cds now instead of having to have tons of normal cds in the jeep.
