I'm a girl and I have no issue getting the seat out. It's not that heavy.

I don't think there has been that many changes, but this how you do it for an 02.

From the back, fold down the seat, the leaver to release the seat to fold it down will be on the left. Then lift it up. On the right side at the bottom of the seat where it joins the floor, where is swivels up there is a pin / clip. Pull that, I think there is only the one clip, but check the other side.

Then just move the seat right or left so the medal part of the seat will come out of the hole attached to the floor.

I'm sure that is clear as mud. If you still can't get it, and no one else can explain it better, when I get home tomorrow I'll take a couple of pictures if I get a chance.

My 2006 is different from what Jen just described. I just removed mine for the first time 2 weeks ago so, in the event that your '04 is like my '06, here's how mine works.

There is a handle right in the middle of the seatback, at the top. Pull it out & up and fold the back forward and the rear seat, bottom & all, will then flip forward.

At the bottom, right at the floor between the two seat tracks, is a long bar that is attached to the seat at the track-runners. Push it down and pull the whole seat assembly back. You might have to push one side of the bar, pull the seat corner backwards, then push the other side of the bar and pull THAT corner backwards.

Once unlatched the entire folded seat assembly will slide toward the rear until it reaches the end of the tracks. Turn the whole seat assembly sideways and lift it out the back of your Jeep.

The 97-02 rear seats are different than the 03-06 rear seats.

Interesting. I guess pulling a pin was to hard and they had to make changes. Wink

Either way the backseat is really light. Im sure even the ladies will not have a problem lugging it around.

Can someone post a pic of the rear seat of the 03-06 TJ's, I do not need to see the seat installed just the area it was removed from.

I just want to see what you are talking about...

My 01TJ's seat removes easily... just interested

Thanks
