I see alot of them mounted to the driver side of the hood. i know you have to drill holes there to mount. is there any tips you guys can give and how do you keep the hole from rusting. if you paint them wont the paint just chip away when you run a bolt or screw though Confused

As for answering your question, I dont know. But I recall reading somewher that for those mounts you need to mount it close to some kind of support on the fender. I think it said that just the metal isn't strong enough or something like that. Of course that could have just been the "reccommended" way to do it too.

As I think about it, how about putting some clean silicone around the holes and under the mount? That would keep the water completely out wouldnt it? Just a thought.

I was wanting to mount it in the gap between the hood and fender. I can get brackets to do so.
Is there any good place to run that big of a wire plus the head that screws to the cb through the firewall

Also I would not mount my cb where CoreyXJ did if you use the floor vents with heat. I use the floor vents 95% of the time. I put mine there first and it got really hot. I just put it on the side of the consel angled back. the part of the consel in that picture is where i put it.
