Well i was driving home and the light came on at a hard stop...I look and it stayed on so i killed the motor . Start it and all is fine..so i drive..Few miles down the road same thing.. So by now im getting scared! Well i get home check oil and its a little low but not bad mabye a quart. So i fill it untill its almost full and drive it a little light comes on a so i kill it start it and drive home, no light. So put in oil till its a little over the full mark{i noticed when i bought it the oil was a little over full. Then i drive 20+ miles and no light even after a lot of hard stops..and starts. I just bought this jeep and it has 150k on it and looks as if the oil changes were not kept up 100%.. Im going to change to oil filter and oil and fix all the gaskets on the valve cover . Anyother ideas?

First thing I would do is check the wiring to the oil pressure sending unit. It might be shorting out. If the wiring is ok, try changing the sensor itself.

If I were you I would not rely on an idot light. I would go out and buy a mini combo... volts, temp and oil press. At least then you wont be guessing on what your engine is doing. I lucked out with mine, mine has a full guage pack.
Good luck.

shock, Did you not check as to why it was getting lower? Surely there were warning lights that came on? Visual clues maybe, like oil leaks on the ground, etc?
