Just got my '01 Wrangler 4.0L liter back from the shop. They replaced the head gasket and no there is a very annoying whistling coming from the engine. I took it back and they had it all day and could not find anything. The problem is it comes an goes but is most noticeable after giving gas and letting off, I think I have eliminated all vaccum and intake sources, and it idles right where it should. Any ideas? Sad

[try at own risk]
if you have a propane torch you can use it to find your leak. open the valve on the torch. ( DO NOT LIGHT ) move the nozzle of the torch around your fittings and hoses. when your motor speeds up you will have found your leak.

just enough so that you can hear the gas coming out. wave it in front and near all the lines. any vacuum leaks will suck the propane gas in and will rev the engine as the gas is burned off when it's running.

I had a hair line crack on the hard plastic line going from the intake manifold to the valve cover, and the rubber hose that connects the pcv valve to the line was very loose. The symptoms I had, was a stumble when getting on the freeway or passing another car.
What clued me in on a vac leak was the up shift light started coming on at a much higher rpm. By chance you didn’t know, the light is triggered off a vac port on the intake manifold.

Using TB cleaner will do the same, just another alternative.
