I've got a 98 ZJ 5.9 and the driver's side rear window will not go down. Neither the drivers window control nor the window control switch on the door seem to be doing anything. When the switch is activated, I don't hear anything like the electric motor struggling- there is absolutely nothing going on. I don't know anything about power windows except that when you press the switch it is supposed to go up or down. I checked and made sure the window and child locks aren't engaged and the other windows operate fine. Does anybody have any idea about what the problem with the window could be? I haven't tried to remove the interior panel yet. Is this held in place with clips or pins and do I need any special tools to remove or reinstall the panel? After I get the panel off I figure I could wing it and try replacing the electric motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SOunds like the motor may be bad...

Pop off the door panel on both of your drivers side doors and see if they look the same... If they do I have a front window motor that you can have..

Also you may see something in the rail that is hindering the operation of the window...

Hello,

Thought I would provide some input on this problem (maybe you already fixed it). Another possibility of problems is that wiring harness that goes between the jeep frame and the drivers side door. Mine once had a short circuit for the rear window that allowed it to go down, but not up. That was really annoying. I took some butt connectors and fixed a few wires. There might be a possibility that one of the power wires is disconnected somehow. Fixing the thing requires that you take the door off, so just pull back the boot and look for any loose connections. Hope this helps. Also maybe check the fuses, but I am sure at least two of the windows are on the same circuit.
