I have just replaced the master cylinder.
The problem was that the pedal felt like it was bypassing fluid.
I bench bleed the master cylinder first.
then bleed the brakes in the normal way. The book said to hook a code scanner to the jeep and rebleed the system. Which I did.
Then did again the normal way.

HOWEVER the problem still exists the pedal is firm but then bypasses slowly , sometimes the ABS motor comes on . this vibrates the pedal , then locks the brakes. This happens only when the jeep is rolling VERY slow (like not moving slow). AS far as I can tell the brakes are working fine as far as stopping power, both foward and reverse.

The code scanner didnt give any codes.
The abs and brake light both work , BUT are NOT on. And have NOT come on.

1994 Grand Cherokee 5.2 Full time

check your brake booster. Put your foot on brakes firmly with engine off, pump them up till they're firm, keep steady foot, if it stays up that's one good sign. Start engine, put foot on brake, turn off engine, and hold, pedal should stay there. If you fail any of these tests, your brake booster is leaking. To check to see if booster is actually working proper, press the pedal and start the engine, pedal should go down a little bit. Autozone got 'em for like $65-$70. Good luck.
