I am doing the ford 2-speed electric fan install on my 98 TJ. The write ups I have read talk about installing diodes. They say this lets the fan dissapate the energy left when you shut it off. Says it will extend the life of the fan. Anybody know anything about this? Everything says they are optional, but if they increase lifespan, then they should be worth the small amount of change for them. Anybody knwo where to install them at? Thanks.

There are 3 different setup diagrams at the bottom of this write up. They show where the diodes go. I'm gonna be doing a swap out here soon and i'm gonna use the diodes as well. It makes sense.

That is the same writeup I used to install mine. I dont have it completed yet, still trying to find time to put the diodes in, the tank bracket, and button it all up. I will say this, I put my relays in the puwer distribution box under the hood. I had a couple of open sopts so I put them in there. I think it looks a whole lot cleaner and professional than the way he has them bolted on the outside. Just a thought if you have the space.
