i got stuck in a sand pit with water about 2' deep Sad . i started to peg leg and then $107 later i am out. well now my check engine, airbag, and abs lights are on. on the way home my speedo stopped working. i disconected the battery for about and hour. no help. the front sunk down in the water to parking light on the drivers side. so did i fry some sensors or does every thing need to dry out.
my brakes were full of sand, makes an owful sound. got to clean them out now. my drivers side floor was full of water front and back. so off to the car shop to have the carpets shammpoed i go. rofl
ANY IDEAS?

Can we assume it's a 97 by your name? If so it's not a cable. You may notice it registers even when backing up. I think the ECU is up near the front, did that get wet? It would mess up alot of stuff if it did. I assume the truck starts, does it seem to run ok besides the electrical malfunctions?

now the abs light is off and the speedo is working all the time. but the oil light is coming on now, i dont have a oil pressure gauge. maybe i need to do an oil change since the motor was under water a little for about an hour and half.

ANY THOUGHTS? Smile

The numbers are the trouble codes, I'm reading that it is suppose to flash the check engine light, but maybe 97 1/5? has odometer readout.

Either way, Codes are as follows:

12- Battery power to PCM was disconnected (withen the last 50 ignition cycles)
45- Trans Temp Sensor Voltage too low
66- isn't listed in my book
55- End of trouble codes

Since the PCM is located on the passenger side behind the battery, it "Shouldn't" have gotten water logged.. I would suspect a loose and wet body connector. All the wiring for the PCU and engine run through a connected located on the firewall just to the drivers side of the steering column. I would unbolt it and make sure it's all dry inside, and even spread some di-electric grease on it before plugging it back to to prevent it from happening again.

And as a rule of thumb, anytime you go swimming and get stuck for any period of time, it's an automatic drain and refill of all fluids (Engine, axles, tranny, transfercase) In extreme cases, and if equipt with, manual front hub repacking.. Also check your front axles, if they are CV joints make sure the boots are still intact, if not your going to be repacking them too. It's a good idea to run a grease gun over all the steering and suspension components also.

Best thing to do is to stay out of water holes like that unless you've prepared the jeep to do so. lots of silicon, waterproofing, vent extending, air intake relocation etc. etc.

Safe 4x4ing and check the depth before you dive in next time LOL!
