Well I am new found this buy surfing.

Ok I am trying to figure out what gears I have in my 95 YJ 5 speed Jeep its had some work done to it and I think the gears have been changed from what I am being told it's running 33's

I found that gear chart that shows the ratio for 55 mph now I want to know if that is in 5th gear or 4th gear thanks

A couple of different ways. If you open up the cover (i.e. changing the fluid at the same time) you can count the number of teeth on the ring gear and pinion gear. Then divide the number of ring gear teeth by the number of pinion gear teeth to get the ratio. The other way is to jack up the jeep, mark one of the tires and count the number of times you turn the driveshaft to get the tire to make one complete revolution. And the chart is for 5th gear.

Should there not a little plate on the differential stating the ratio? Or are these not as relaible when you dont know the reputation of the person who worked on it?

There might be a tag, but it's from the factory and if it's been regeared, it will no longer be correct. Wink
