Hey everyone.....I'm New Here.... I have a 97 tj and a 89 yj
this question is about the 89...........I bought some of those "niffty" stainless steel, door and windshield hinges and........when I went to put them on, the nuts on the inside of the body are turning,,,,,,,,,,,,&*^%%^$%&*
Any way....I'm a mechanic and the only way I can see to get this job done , is to break down the windshield and loosen tha dash so I can get to the damn nuts on the inside...............IF ANYONE,,,Knows of a better way PLEASE let me know........It would be greatly appreciated...........THANKS

hey... sorry about the late response, i actually just installed mirror relocators onto said hinges. they are a pain. you have to pull off the dash and cut your hands behind the firewall on the drivers side. a little wd-40 helps break down the paint on the end of the bolt. i was going to put new hinges on as mine are a bit rusty and peeling but not after that fiasco. not fun to do alone either. an extra set of hands helps too.

Thanks for the input. i'm scrapping the windshield and buying a new one.
$139.00 at Quadatec is worth it. I still have to drill all the old bolts out and do what you suggested on the main tub. but what the heck, might as well fix it right.
I'll just make sure I soak everything in antisieze compound when I put the new parts together...................Whatta......Pain.........But hey thats the world of Jeeps

When i take windshields out at work, i use my mac 3/8 impact gun and alittle heat from a torch, heat the bolts up and I have never had a problem. This ofcourse was after i broke a t40... learn the hard way. If you are worried about your paint.. .... your hinges prolly need a new coat anyway.
