The left turn signal on my 98 Cherokee is sticking. I have to manually move the handle back into place once I've finished my turn. Everything works OK when I turn right, and all of the signal lights are working too. Any suggestions?

My '97 has done the same thing on right hand turns since I got it. I just kind of learned to live with it since it usually ends up being a small piece of broken plastic that costs $200 dollars. Not sure what's wrong, but this can be a free bump for you Smile

If XJ's are anything like classic Mustangs (Hah!!! rofl ) then there is what is called a turn-signal cam. After turning your wheel back from making a turn, the "ear" on the cam will release and your turn-signal stops. After time these plastic pieces become brittle and finally let go. I've learned to deal with it on my Mustang. It has become 2nd nature.

I've gotten used to it too--it's become a natural reaction for me to snap it back once I've finished turning. If I could figure out a quick fix for it, I'd do it--otherwise, I guess that I'll live with it.

I just replaced the turn signal switch assembly on my '99 Sport. The problem I had was that when I signaled left, both rear lamps flashed. It was an internal short in the switch. You can get an OEM replacement for about $40 at several online sources. It's an easy install for the backyard mechanic.
