Hi! I'm in the process of buying a 2006 Jeep Sport- intend to use it for city and highway driving, not offroad. I have the choice between a Jeep with the Brake & Traction Group and one without and was wondering if I need it?

I'm also planning on buying the 2-piece Bestop Hardtop and was wondering if anyone had one and liked it and it was easy to remove/use? Also, I was planning on having a garage install it and was wondering how much this could cost? Any advice anyone has is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Sally

What is included in the Brake & Traction group??? Then we'll be able to tell you if you need it.

I can't say I've ever seen anyone with the Bestop hardtop. It's a good design but honestly not sure it ever was released. I know it is in the parts catalogs for the big vendors...but I can't say I've ever seen one. As far as having the garage install it...no idea what they would charge but if you can get an assistant to help carry and move the top, you can do it yourself.

Sorry. The Brake and Traction Group includes 4-wheel disc brakes, locking rear differential, Trac-loc limited slip rear differential and 3.73 axle ratio. Not sure what any of that means.

if your never going to take it off road I don't think you need any of them. you will still have your basic 4wheel drive and that should be enough for mud, rain, snow etc. you could always get a hoist a top to take your top off by your self when needed, helps to have a garage too. good luck on your new dd, Jeep!

Yes, you want it. The 4 wheel disc brakes are better than the front disc/rear drum. The 3.73 gear ratio will be better suited for larger tires if you do so later on down the road.

I have the 4-wheel discs on my Unlimited and they're better brakes than on ANY vehicle I've ever owned.

You must have owned some vehicles with really shitty brakes. Wranglers aren't known for their brakes.

Never owned 4-wheel discs on any vehicle before and I guess shitty 4-wheel discs are still better than front disc/rear drum combinations.
