Check the CPS (Crank Postion Sensor). The Renix system is a dinosaur
compared to the newer ECU. To explain the sytem without to much detail.
The flywheel takes three revolutions for the crank sensor to locate number
one cylinder.
The signal goes to the ignition module located under the coil.
The ignition module will open to allow the signal to the distributor.
I would check that CPS
I recently had a non start, the CPS connector was not making good connection.

Check the CPS. If it's bad, you will get spark at the plugs, but it will not be timed correctly to the injector pulses...hence no start.

hmmm...you said the rail is full of fuel, but did you check the pressure? If it's too low it won't start. Not sure what the spec is for an 89, but it's 49psi on my 97. I know they are different systems, but I can't see the fule pressure numbers differing all that much between those years...

Since it's got a fuel rail and injectors, it doesn't have a carb. Wink
