I recently got a used 99 TJ and I'm completing the tune up myself. Last night I began changing the spark plug cables and distributor cap.
I goofed the sequnce on the cables/distributor. I was wondering:

Where is cylinder 1? Near the fire wall or front end?

How do I figure out where I place each cable on the distributer? I haven't taken the cap off yet so it's still in the original position (which worked previously).

It's turing over right now but roughly, and idle is pretty chuggy. Ismell gas so I'm assuming it's not burning everything, is it just flooded?

I learned my first lesson "don't rush" today. I feel like a moron.
Thanks in aadvance for any responses. I've been using this forum as my "how to" guide and everything is great.
