Being that no one has responded since July, I hope someone actually reads this and offers some guidance. I was looking around under the JEEP the other day, getting ready to pull the drive train. Any way, My JEEP is an 85, however, I do not see the vacuum disconnect on the front axle. The spec sheet somewhere on this site says that some 84-? have the disconnect. I thought all Cherokees from 84-89 had the disconnect. Which is correct? Do I have the disconnect and just can't find it? Please help.

If you do not see a shift motor on the front axle on the passengers side then you do not have a vacuum acuated front axle.

I had an 86, it had one. You can't miss it. Look on the passenger side of the axle. It is on the back side. It looks like a box stuck to the back of the axle tubing with vacuum lines coming out of it.

Well, since the axle tube is clean all the way to the end, I don't think I have one. I guess that's one less upgrade I have to do. Thanks for the quick replies.
