i pulled the ebrake lever up too far to get a better angle, in order to remove the center connsole. the plastic button on the top snapped off, and now the lever won't stay engaged... anyone ever experienced this and/or know of a good way to fix it without getting a whole new mechanism from a junkyard? thanks.

I have had mine pop out, they are a bitch to fix. Has the male piece in the button snapped off inside the handle? If so I'd say get a second hand one

You'll have to replace the entire handle. Had this problem about five years ago. I didn't enjoy the fact that I couldn't use the E-brake so avoided parking on any hills.

when i look inside the plastic button for the end, i can see what looks to be the female piece has broken off... i'm left with a threaded metal bolt. if i play with the bolt, i can get the brake to work, but it's just kind of a pain. i figured it probably wouldn't be too hard to replace the whole thing, i'm just mad at myself for breaking it in the first place. thanks for the info!

Yeah, the button on mine popped out while driving down the highway. Scared the crap out of me and I couldn't figure out what it was.

Well this just happened to me. Found the button in my seat. I have removed all if the center console to get at this thing, and now I need to know how this thing works. I have a button, a metal rod with a hook/curve on the end, and a cantelever that engages the teeth on the parking brake. how do these things connect? Is there supposed to be a spring anywhere? Does anyone have a suggestion of who sells these besides the junkyards or dealership?
