Does anyone know where the transmission control module is on a 1995 Grand Cherokee? My Jeep isn't shifting by it's self, but if I shift manually it seems to work ok. For the price I'd rather replace the TCM and see if that fixes it before dropping $2K on a new tranny.

Thanks!

This is if your tranny is a 42re. If not, you don't have a TCM. Hope this helps...

Thanks Russel. It is a 42RE, but now I'm not sure if it is the TCM though. That page says not to replace the TCM unless the scan tool shows it's faulty. I tried to have it read yesterday and they said that they couldn't get any info from it. Kind of an ambiguous answer. Not really a thumbs up or down.

I really donít know what to do here. Cottman is telling me to have it rebuilt even though they canít tell me exactly what the problem is. That might work well for them, but not me.
