i have the same problem , but my leaking is the rear, near the hatch, but the lift gate doesnt leak. it might be rust from underneath. if you find the drain plug let me know.

Both leaks are typical.

The rear hatch sometimes leaks around the window after the seals dry out and shrink. Also have seen them leak around the door seal.

I've had leaks under the dash coming from the firewall and had 1 leak following the antenna wire. The wire goes through the right side body with a plastic/rubber piece to stop water from coming in. Someone had replaced the antenna on mine and neglected to seal it back up. I had a GC that leaked from a firewall seam, I had to remove the piece under the wiper arms and fill the seam with silicone. I cleaned all the pine needle debris out of the area at the same time.

Both issues I found by having someone run water from a hose all over the suspect area while I was inside with a flashlight looking for drips.
