WHATS THE WORD ON CARRYING A BIGGER TIRE ON MY 05 WRANGLER UNLIMITED TIRE CARRIER, IVE HEARD 50 POUND LIMIT BUT OTHERS HAVE SAID YA CAN CARRY BIGGER WITHOUT DAMAGE I DONT WANT TO BEND OR HARM MY TGATE AND HAVE TO GET A NEW ONE THANKS, JIM ,MT. VERNON VA.

Turn off caps lock.

What size do you want to carry?

31x10.5 is the biggest you can carry using stock wheels without cutting, modifying, or using an adapter bracket to space it out and up.

caps off, fergot Embarassed i have 31x105 tires my main concern is the weight of the tire ,any info on the max weight i can carry on m stock tire carrier would be helpfull, i cut 4 peices of pvc pipe as a spacer and raised the 3rd tailite and it fits just fine thanks jim mt.vernon va.

That size is absolutely fine.

You don't even have the relocate the 3rd brake light either. It just works.

thanks alot ehirner,preciate it,jim mt. vernon va...in the overall scheme of things were almost neighbors as a kid we used to hitch up our 20foot travel trailer and go to pa. quite a bit, nice country

I put a 33" tire with the balck steel rim on my stock tire carrier. You'll notice some sag in the tailgate after a while though. Stick with the 31 and if you ever go bigger look into a tire carrier-bumper combo.

Went to 33x10.5 after carrying a 31x10.5 for a year on the stock carrier with and extention form JC Whitney. DID NOT extend the bumpstops either.

Started hearing a snapping sound and come to find out the stock carrier was cracking on the top. Had it wielded, extended the lower bumpstop to meet the bottom of the tire and all is good.

I do need to extend the side stops though. I can see the tire vibrate side to side when I close the rear door.
