Hi,
I have a 89 Cherokee with part of the stock roof rack installed. The previous owner had started to remove part of the rack. I am stuck with part of rack hacked off. My concern is that he cut off part of the rails that attach to the roof. So I now have the two front mounting holes open. It appears that there is some sort of sub roof under the roof of the cherokee. I need to seal up these hole, but I thought if there is a rack out there that would replace the origional rack and mount into the origional mounting holes I might give it a try.
Anyone know of such a rack?
Or, how have you guys sealed the rack mounting holes after removing the stock rack?
Thanks for any help!

I don't know of a rack that would use the stock mounting locations. If you want to get rid of the holes, the best way would be to weld in some slugs and have the areas repainted.

You could also scrounge in the local car boneyard for a factory roof rack. I don't think the hole placements are any different up to the '96 version, so it should be pretty easy to pull off the rails from a dead XJ and just slap it onto yours.

Yep,

Kinda thought that I would probably have to get one from a salvage yard. Just hoped there might be an aftermarket set-up available.

Thanks
