Good forum. Lots of great information here.

Just wanted to say hi, just signed up today. Doubt my picture will work but hey worth a shot right?
I've been a Yoda guy for many years and just recently switched over to the dark side.
1998 XJ Sport,99K and bone stock when I bought a few months ago.
Standard issue inline 6 and auto trans. Beats the pants off my Toyota's V6.
So far haven't done much. 3.5" Old Man Emu lift, 30.9.5 15's, Daystar bumper with a HiLift.

If anyone knows what an OBDII code 45 (from odometer self test) is drop me a note.
OBD code thread says my turbo boost limit has been exceeded. Unfortunatly Jeep neglected to put a turbo on my inline 6 Mr. Green .
Cheers and happy wheelin!

Code 45=Trans Temp/Governor pressure voltage out of range. Less than 1.55 volts, or above 3.73 volts for temp, less than .1 or above 4.89 volts. Trans temp to high/low. OD switch input low more than 5 mins.
The overdrive soleniod might be malfunctioning. How's the tranny fluid look?

Thanks man, the service manual I have is limited at best.

trans fluid is bright pink and full to the correct level. Looks clean, no smell.

I was on surface streets doing 30-35 when the light came on. I didn't notice anything unusual.
RPM is below 2 grand at 60 MPH on the highway so I'm assuming 4th is engaging like it should.

Is there any way to test the overdrive solenoid?

I didn't find anything in the service manual about it.

I got it fixed!

Check enigine is off, codes are cleared. Dielectric grease in all the connectors under the truck did the trick. Might have been resistance on the trans temp sensor.

Crossing deep water during the flood a few weeks ago may have started some corrosion on the terminals.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Tardis. Big help!
Looking forward to a long weekend of wheelin at the cabin.
