What type are you looking at? I recently read an install of a Mean Green alternator in 4 wheel drive and sport untility mag (December 2006 p. 80) and they stated that they stated "...can be installed in the stock locations using the stock hardware". I would think that includes wiring as hardware. 4wd.com states that the Mean Green has a "there's a state-of-the-art voltage regulator designed to protect wiring and ignition system."

I guess in a round about way of saying it, I would think you would be ok with the stock wiring.

yea, ive gotten mixed replies, half say the mean green would only at most need + batt. cable, (for the 140 amp) others say its best to replace more than just that. i would be nice to know for sure before i dish ouy the cabbage for the mean green alt . thanks for answer though.

Yeah, sorry I couldn't be of any real help. But here is a chart I "borrowed" from the crutchfield website. It will at least help you figure out what size wire you might want to run when you finally decide what you want to do. (I gotta try to be helpful on some level Wink )

Good. Glad to hear everything worked out. Was it a pretty easy install?
