Hello again. My '89 Cherokee is having a little problem engaging the 4WD. I replaced the vacuum lines running from the switch on the t-case to the hard steel vacuum lines in the engine compartment. The problem is I have a vacuum line that leads from the t-case to the hard lines that doesn't plug into anything. There are four lines total running from the t-case, and four lines running to the actuator, but one of my lines splits into two lines and the new line plugs into the hard line that runs to the actuator leaving one of the original four lines plugged into nothing. You wouldn't think that there would just be a vacuum line just dangling in the engine compartment for nothing, but I'm not the Jeep expert. You guys are!! So- If anyone understood what I just described, please help me figure this out so that I can get my 4WD working. Thanks a bunch!

These things can be a pain. With the engine running does the loose line have vacuum present? Do your heater controls work? I think they are all tied together. You could plug it and see if the 4x4 engages. If it does but no heat controls then maybe that line goes to the metal hoses on the passenger side firewall. I assume you have one going to the intake manifold already, that's where the system gets vacuum.
