i have a 94 jeep grand cherokee limited 4x4 5.2 i just bought and im trying to fix some problems in iT. the coolent sensor keeps poping up on the little screen and flashes red in the front diagram of the jeep. i replace the coolent sensor with a brand new one and still have the problem. when i take the plug and ground it to something on the engine it moves the temp gauge to the max. im trying to figure what the problem is. the original plug that connects to the sensor broke and i guess they put the two wires together and then put a speaker conector crimp on and reconected it. can the 2 wires touch? please help. THANK YOU.

In my '95 ZJ 4L there are three "Coolant" sensors.

There is a Coolant "sensor" in the radiator overflow bottle. When the level in the overflow bottle is low the warning displays.

There is a coolant temperature "sender" for the gauge on the dashboard. This sensor is located at the drivers side top rear of the head. Has a white body.

There is a temperature "switch" that is located in the thermostat housing. I'm new the the ZJ so I'm not sure what's it's function.

OK I did some degreasing and found the one for the gauge. Does the one in the overflow bottle show on the VIC as a bad coolant sensor if its bad?

Yes!

On my '95 ZJ when it's disconnected the VIC reads "bad coolant sensor"

Thanks so much Johnny V, that solved the problem w/ coolant sensor. Now the Washer sensor is calling thats its bad.
Ordered the part through Advance, havent had a hint of trouble since I installed it in parking lot, I mean in tank while at parking lot. Very Happy Guess I'll have to order the washer sensor now, sigh! Crying or Very sad
Thanks again,
Tony
