Hi all. I have a 95 Cherokee Sport and I have a brake question. I need to replace the rotors and pads. I know how to do it, but there are a few problems I've run into. First, in order to remove the rotors, the bracket the caliper sits on has to come off. It does not look like the brake systems I've seen on other Cherokees, not that I've looked at that many. The bolts that hold that bracket on have gotten rounded off because I didnt have the correct tool to remove them. I have tools to remove the damaged bolts. Second, I've gone to the local Jeep dealer to get replacement parts and he couldn't find what I was talking about. One of the mechanics said that the setup sounded more like a Grand Cherokee. So my questions are, does anyone else have this setup on their Cherokee? If so, where is a good place to get these replacement bolts? Thanks in advance.

Eric

That doesn't sound right. Could you post a picture? That would help a lot.

There are two types of brake systems that have been used on the Cherokees. One is an early system that uses a two piece knuckle. The caliper bolts to the saddle which bolts to the knuckle. The second is the late model system that uses a one piece knuckle. The caliper bolts directly to the knuckle. A 95 Cherokee should not have the two piece knuckles as they were used early in the XJ lifespan. I'm not a Cherokee expert but the switch was somewhere around 1989, 1990, or 1991.

Nevermind, had a brainfart for a minute. Mine is indeed the one-piece knuckle. Thanks anyways guys.
