TJ front - powertrax no slip. full time locker with the smoothest ratcheting of any of them. I know a few people who run the regular lockright and say its ok but no one with the no slip seems to complain. Drack runs one.

I run a lockright in mine but i have an axle disconnect

I've got a lockright in the front of my TJ and I love it. I've had no issues with mine.

I've got a Trutrac in the front. No problems yet, but it is slightly noticeable in 4WD in the snow. I can feel the front slide more than it used to in the snow when making turns. If the wheels aren't allowed to slip at the differential, then they'll slide on the snow. It must be doing it's job, b/c I never had the problem before hand. Not a problem offroad either.

If you do go for a Trutrac though, give Bob Supplee a hollar. $289.20 shipped for mine. (As a comparison, 4WDH sells them for $400 plus shipping)

Like Dan said, I got a No-slip in mine and love it. Invisible in 2wd and not unmanageable in 4wd. The first snow we had after I put it in, the steering jerked a bit to the right. Didn't catch me off guard since I was expecting some kinda reaction. After about a whopping 2 minutes of this, I managed to compensate my steering and haven't had any issues since. The nice thing about it is that I picked it up when I was running 3.73's and was able to keep it when I switched to 4.56's since the same carrier was used.

I did some research on the Lock Right v. No-slip and came up with this after some searching back in the day. Strength and pavement mannerisms are the biggest difference. Powertrax claims that the NS is 25% stronger than the same LR. The NS contains slip washers, this allows it to disengage and one tire can spin freely when no torque is applied. This eliminates the clicking when turning and eliminates wheel hop that you find with the LR's (albeit minimal amounts of hop as compared to a full carrier replacent type auto locker). That's only internet research. Obviously, I haven't run a LR in the past, so I can't verity the differences. I picked up mine during a group buy awhile back for a little under $300 (I believe, it's been some time). Eventually there'll be an ARB up front, but I'm completely satisfied with the NS right now Smile .

So, with the locker Doug bought, I remember something about gears being mentioned and I plan up upgrading gears when money permits, but feel that the front locker wasn't that bad of an investment earlier than getting new gears... My only question is will the locker be reusable on lower gearing (4.56s or 4.88s even) if I get it now for the 3.73s? TIA!
