I bought a 2003 Jeep Wrangler X last fall. I would like to lift the suspension 2 inches. It has a NP 231 Transfer case. I use this vehicle everday and tow a bass boat with it. I have read that the NP 231 transfer case has problems with being lifted. My first question is should I just leave everything stock if I'm towing a boat? My second question is do I have to worry about the drive shaft with a 2" lift and a NP 231 transfer case?

Your JEEP is not a JK it's a TJ. With two inches there should be no worry about the transfer case or driveshaft. Towing would be fine too.

Yes.

Not usually with a 2" lift. A fellow Jeeper near me needed a SYE and double cardan driveshaft with a 2.5" lift. It happens, but is rare. Also, it's not an issue with the t-case and lifts, it's an issue with the short rear driveshaft and modifications needed for the t-case to get a longer driveshaft and one built to handle the steeper angles.

I hear with a auto trans your more likely to need SYE than with a manual trans, is this true?
I'm looking in to a BB myself. If I can get away without buying a SYE or lowering the T-Case , that would be good.

Yes. The auto transmissions are longer and this translates to a shorter driveshaft. Shorter driveshafts have more angle on the joints and are more likely to have vibes.
