It just started recently.. when i first start the car after it's cooled down or in the morning.. i reverse out of the drive way and engage Drive, and start out..
Suddenly the throttle doesn't respond until you hear a slight clunk before you feel the car actually starting to accelerate..

After this everything is fine... drives good, exept for that weird start..
A friend of mine said that i drive off before it engages fully.. but i waited a few seconds in Drive before going and the prob still there...
It doesn't happen all the time, but now and then... but it's still unerving

Does anyone have the same prob? and can help me out...
hopefully it's not to serious..

When was your last tranny fluid change? That could be the problem.
I wouldn't try any 0-60 runs with the tranny like that!!! rofl

awww really , i think he should just load up the converter in 4wd to see how good of a launch he can get for the 0-60 run Smile

orangemc13 is probably right about the tranny , get the filter done as well or do it your self .

My '99 XJ does a similar thing from a standing start. It feels like the transmission does a downshift for a fraction of a second before moving. It doesn't make any noise. It feels like a momentary slip. Other that that it shifts fine and runs normal. The curious thing is that it doesn't do this all the time. It seems to happen every few days, last for only that day, and then be fine for a few more days. I have learned to live with it.

I've checked my fluid.. and that's at it's normal level... now i'll check the universal joints.. which might be the problem.. because the car runs perfectly after this little this happens...
Recently it happens once or so a week...
these days i wait a few secs after engaging into drive..

Keep me posted on anyone who has the same prob...

is it like a metalic clunk kind of pingy like a hammer on a steel plate if they are servicable grease the universals and see if that quiets things up a bit if so u-joints are bad

maybe check the rear end fluid, better safe than sorry
