I Have A 1986 cherokee and inside smells like gas. any ideas what could be causing that?

If you have a fuel injected motor, look around your fuel injectors for leaks. I do not know what motor you have though.

EDIT: I looked at your other postings and it looks like you have a 2.8. Look around the fuel lines for leaks especially the soft lines. The fuel filter is the back on the drivers side rail and it has soft lines.
If it is having trouble starting the carb could be flooding.

You didn't say which area smells like gas. It could be a hose, it could be the gas tank. Gotta narrow down the area some.

Check the factor crimps on the changeover from hard to soft lines. Mine cracked there and filled the whole cab up with gas stink. Make sure you move them around a bit. They crack right at the end.

Since my english aren't very good,I find it hard to understand exactly what you mean by saying leaking injector.I have the same problem,so is there any foto that can help me understand what is it?

start it cold and then go look for the wet spot.
