lockrite locker is gonna be your best bet. just make sure you have an open carrier not a limited slip in it now. the lockrite is around $310.

I "think" with your year XJ, the 8.25" is NOT supoorted by Lockrite?

Chrysler 8.25 - 27 spline, 1.17" diameter shafts, 8.25" ring gear, 3" axle tube - used 91-96
Chrysler 8.25 - 29 spline, 1.21" diameter shafts, 8.25" ring gear, 3" axle tube - used 97-01

I have a 92 XJ with a Chrysler 8.25 and I installed a LockRite in it but I think the later years is different spline count and they don't make a lock rite for them

Not by Lockright, but by Powertrax No-Slip. The Lockright is for '91-'96 XJs with Chrysler 8.25 rears (Dana35 supported all the way to '01) and not later because of the splines in the carrier (27 spline versus 29 spline in the later models, '97-'01). The Powertrax is also made by Richmond Gear like the Lockright and retails for $400+ (check online for cheaper rates).

It's more expensive than the Lockright but quieter too, with better road manners (not as much chirping under load). I would've bought it instead of my Auburn Gear, but at the time it was very difficult to find (something about the online shops getting the parts numbers confused with the splines and thinking there wasn't one that supported 29 spline for '97-'01). I do have the Powertrax in the D30 and it barely makes a whisper.

Good product! thumbs

NOTE - Part number in Quadratec catalog - #76104.814
