I have the '96 as mentioned in an earlier post, I also have a '95. the '96 is a 5.2, the '95 is a 4.0. I would like to change the drivetrain from the '96 into the '95. The rear end ratios are different , so I'll have to change both ends. My Question is, the '95 has 3.55 gears, the '96 has 3.73 gears. Does anyone think I'll have any performance problems with the swap?

Oh ok! You'll be fine, the 3.73's are better. Why are you're swapping? Are the 95 axles toasted?

Yes, the front axle seems to have stripped the splines on the axle gears inside the carrier. The '96 has a 5.2 with over 200,000 miles on it, pretty much used up!

Only 200k that's nothing!!! rofl rofl rofl

Did you open up the diff? Are the spiders gone or the axle shafts? You could just swap the insides (shafts and spiders) from the 96 to the 95 and save some time and labor. Mr. Green
