I had help getting into my t-case, but after pulling it apart and checking everything from the gears to the chain, all looks fine. Apparently my tranny got overheated while playing at Shoe Creek and caused it to slip out a couple times, which is why it made that nice sound. I've since got the t-case back together and did a couple of test engagements, and it's holding up fine. Now I gotta find a way to cool it off. I imagine a tranny cooler is the obvious way to go here, and I know it installs near the front radiator, but I don't know where it goes after that. Assistance?

NOTE: I'll be also looking to hit a boneyard soon and see if I can lay my hands on a spare NP231 in case mine decides to blow up in the near future. Someone said the S-10 Blazer runs the same case but the spline might be off. Anyone know about this?

you should have no problem pulling a case out of an xj, as they are everywhere

as for the cooler I got the biggest one napa had to offer, however I removed the condenser for it to fit. Anything will be better than nothing and the ones mopar offer so far have worked well in my grand, its a lot smaller of course.

then you could go all out and have your cooler inside the jeep with an electric fan like swampy did

There are tons of XJs in boneyards. You won't have a problem finding one.

The installation of a tranny cooler is laid out in that writeup.

If you're not using the A/C, the condensor would make a great tranny cooler, otherwise go with a Hayden trans cooler kit.
And yes there are enough junked XJ's out there, so finding a X-fer case should be no problem.
