yup lift and tires.. Personally I would hold off on lockers till you can afford axle work.

But what do I know I'm just a web wheeler. Razz

Make sure to save about $100 for a CB just in case you get stuck without a phone. Maybe you'll get lucky on the CB.

HI-lift jack, like this http://www2.northerntool.com/product/200310544_200310544.htm

Works not only for jacking up, but also for winching out.(slowly) Shocked

Get with locals who wheel off-road (join a club?)

For milder trails, you may be AMAZED what a stock JEEP will do. More experienced drivers will help spotting appropriate lines and advice as to how to negotiate obstacles but I find myself still shocked how capable these vehicles are (even in stock form they are quite trail capable!)

Disconnecting front Sway Bar (Anti-Sway Bar if you prefer), airing down tires are two inexpensive/free mods further increasing even stock capabilites.

Get some trail experience and then proceed with the modification process. But be warned: It is addictive (not to mention expensive!)

ugh , my radiator exploded the other day there goes a few 100 $ . except i torch soldered it back together , i wonder how long it will work .

anything swampy says is probably right , like the axle work or axle swap idea he shot out of his web wheeling behind .

stock jeeps do pretty good off road you can usually get water to go into the cab and jump them a couple feet ( not saying they will last forever )
