Hi All,

My poor Wrangler won't start. The engine turns over but will not "fire". It seems very close, as though it is not getting gas, but several auto parts store employees/managers have said to check the electrical system.

The starter & solenoid tested good.

I replaced the battery, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, and ignition coil. They needed replaced but this has not solved the problem.

If I spray starting fluid into the throttle body, the engine fires a few times but ultimately still won't start.

Does anyone have any ideas? If I can't find the problem soon (or fix it once I find it), I'll have to take it to a mechanic, which I can't really afford. :-(

I got several ideas off this forum, thanks to everyone for being here!

Check into the fuel pump. Seems like it's not getting gas.

That seems to concur with several other opinions I have gotten, so I had the Jeep towed to the mechanic today. Messing with the gas tank is a bit more than I care to brave!

Thanks for the quick reply; I'll post when I have an update.

Had it taken to the mechanic last night, he looked at/fixed it today.

The problem was the crank position sensor (?), which apparently is related to the electrical & fuel systems.

No idea where the new one went, but the old one is sitting on the floor in my Jeep lol.

Anyhow, it's running fine again!
