I am planning on putting a Dana 44 rear axle on my '88 Cherokee, that is all stock in the drivetrain area. (Dana 30 front, Dana 35 non-c rear) My question would be that of the size difference in the actual axle. If i put the 44 in, will it fit with my drive shaft that is in there, or will i have to just get rid of the slip yoke and get a cv type that is a custom size? Never really worked on the drivetrain of anything much before, but I am definetly not oblivious to any terms. Thanks, any input would help Confused

You should be fine. The same swap in done on TJs quite frequently with driveshafts reused between the two setups. There isn't that much difference in length between the D35 and D44.

Get new U-bolts. The 44 has larger tubes.
