i purchased a 95 5.2 zj.it binds like hell on tight manuvers.its full time 4x4.is this normal? i have an explorer full time,it doesn't do it.of course my 88 wrangler doesn't either,its not full time 4x4.Also there is a whine in the driveline,maybe rear,maybe transfer case,which is more prevalent.thanks

id say its your poopy 249! it shouldnt bind unless you blew your vc which prevents binding in the all wheel tcases. its a pile of dung tho so id say swap it out for either a 242 or 231

since you said the noise is from the rear check drive shafts and u joints

Mine is a 95 and I ran it without the front drive shaft. What kind of problems might you encounter?
Of course, my tcase had bound up so bad on the highway that it shredded my front diff. gears so that could be why I didn't have any other problems.

If anything it will ruin the t-case, but if it's already shot I wouldn't worry. I've driven my 94 a few days without the front driveshaft with no problems, when the 249 was still in.

maybe dankness is talking about how some of them work like a differential between the front and rear tires ? and with out the front shaft it would just spin the out put yoke and not the rear tires .

or maybe not .

im sure hes fine .

just out of curiousity....why would removing the driveshaft affect the ride and mess up the TC?
