hi guys im new to the fourm..i just got a 2000 XJ and i have a wierd problem. ok her it is..

i was driving alone then i saw my check gauges light on so i looked around and saw my volts were at 19 so i shut it off.. then i tried to restart and i had ZERO power not even the door chimes came in. got it boosted and all was well and volts were normal at 14, on the way back home it jumped to 19 then back down to 14 after a couple mins. any help would be great thanks

your alternator is going bad, have it checked out at autozone, or pepboys....

thanks alot.. i had a feeling that was the problem..i think ill just change the battey too.

Get the battery checked, but no need in changing out a good battery. Just wait until you get the alternator fixed...

i had the same problem i started my jeep one morning and my alternator gauge was freaking out I ran it down to kragen they tested it, it failed i bought a new one, put it in and problem solved
