i have a 1990 xj with the stock cooling system and im about to convert over to a 1992 opened system so i wont have to hassle with that pressure bottle cracking on me in the future plus the radiator i have now is going out and i heard this was possible and sounds like a permanent solution.Has anyone heard of this or has actually done this procedure ?

thanks

I did it works, just find a radiator with the filler neck, from a cherokee, then find a overflow bottle and a location to put it

I did my 1988 XJ two years ago and love it.
If you bought a new rad from MOdine or now Proalaince, their rad
comes with a plug for the coolant fan switch. Its a two core. Plastic tanks
About $135.00 colant bottle $10.00 with barcket. You should replace
the Heater control valve. But use your old one, I just cut the tubes for
hose pieces. I mounted the coolant bottle where the factory one was.
I also installed a 14 inch coolant fan in place of my fan clutch.
The 13 inch condenser fan is still operational comes on at 206 degrees
as backup.Yes the 14 inch fan comes on at 190 dgrees and cuts off at
190 degrees. Future is to have a switch on the inside for water crossings.
No collant issues here.
